AdWords Small Business Corner Introduced

New subforum designed as place to share advice
Small business owners who would like a little help when it comes to AdWords have a new option in terms of places to go for advice. Google’s created the AdWords Small Business Corner to act as an environment where individuals can get together and exchange tips.
Overwhelmed with the number of tools available? Find yourself signing into AdWords every six minutes to little effect? It’s these sorts of things (and more) that Google means for everyone to address with the new section of the AdWords Help Forum.
A post on the Inside AdWords Blog explained, “This new category is not about troubleshooting specific account issues, but rather about sharing and learning from the experiences of others.”
Sample topics then included “[c]hoosing the right tools to measure results,” “[h]ow to write great ads,” and “[f]inding the right frequency to sign in to AdWords.”
Assuming enough people weigh in (and that is a major hurdle with every new community) the Small Business Corner should prove quite useful. Small business owners are in a pretty good position to understand other small business owners’ needs, after all.
And with regards to the community’s chattiness, we’ll note that topics are averaging about five replies each at the moment.

Google Testing New Billing Tab for AdWords

By Chris Crum – Thu, 06/03/2010 – 4:18pm.
New Billing Tab Gives More Control
Google is testing a new Billing tab for its AdWords billing interface, which you may be interested in checking out. The company says this is part of its ongoing effort to improve its advertising program, and that this feature is designed to make the payment process easier and more flexible.
Google says you can expect the following from your updated billing tab:
- Get more control. Choose to initiate a payment on your account at any time and use any form of payment available with your country and currency settings.
- Make payments directly from your billing summary page. You can do this by clicking the “Make a payment” button.
- Add multiple forms of payments and switch between them. Add as many forms of payment as you want to your account and switch between using them at any time.
- Use different business and billing addresses. Your business address doesn’t have to match your billing address. Plus, each form of payment can have a different billing address.
- Get additional support. You will have access to improved help content in the new Billing tab and help center.
There is an FAQ page set up for the new Billing tab, so you can learn more about it there. In addition, there is a form here that you can complete if you want to upgrade to this system.
Google has just started the testing process with a small group of U.S. advertisers, but they’re inviting others.

If you run an online business, there is a good chance you’re using paid search in your marketing strategy. If that’s the case, there’s also a good chance you use Google AdWords, and if that is the case, you may be interested to know that Google is offering a new AdWords tool called Search Funnels. Do you think Search Funnels will be helpful?
“Conversions in AdWords are attributed to the last ad clicked before the conversion happened, but how many other ads of yours did customers click or see that preceded that final search and click? How much time past from the first time they saw your ad and that final conversion?” asks Google. The Search Funnels tool is designed to help answer questions like these.
The tool is also designed to help advertisers make “informed decisions bout their keywords, ad groups, and campaigns,” according to Miles Johnson on Google’s Inside AdWords blog.
“By showing which ads your customers clicked on before ultimately converting, Search Funnels give a more complete picture of the value of your keywords, ad groups and campaigns,” says Johnson. For an example, read this.
Conversions reported in the Search Funnels tool are tracked by the AdWords Conversion Tracking tag or are imported from Google Analytics after linking your AdWords and Analytics accounts.
The tool provides users with a Top Conversions report, as well as Assisted Conversions, First and Last Click Analysis, Time Lag, and Path Length reports.
The Search Funnels tool is currently in beta status, and will be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks to AdWords users in the “Conversions” section under the reporting tab.
